MUSIC MINISTRY

Our Music Ministry here at Sturbridge Federated Church offers something for everyone. We believe that God calls us all to use our gifts to glorify God and to spread God’s love in the world.

If you have been given the gift of music, we invite you to be a part of the Music Ministry here at Sturbridge Federated, and use your time and talents to do God’s good work.

Our Chancel Choir currently rehearses each Sunday at 8:30 a.m. After warming up, we review the service music for that morning. After service rehearsal starts by 11 a.m. and we conclude by 12:30 p.m. We strive to sing an eclectic mix of traditional classics and contemporary music.

We spread our music ministry throughout the community in the form of performances at various nursing homes, and the Old Sturbridge Village Christmas by Candlelight program. Other performances can pop up around the year as well. Our members also participate in various ecumenical choirs throughout the area, including the annual Festival of Giving Trees.

Annually, we also host a growing ecumenical community choral workshop “Make a Joyful Noise.” At this event, we welcome a guest conductor/ arranger, rehearse a selection of anthems, and follow up with an evening performance which is open to the public.

Choir Director Andrew Kosiba‘s philosophy is that everyone can take part in making our music ministry stronger. His professional background in music education enables him to hone in on the specific needs of the individual, strengthening the individual for the benefit of the group. I truly believe, that with work, everyone can put their voice to use. Everyone possesses talents that can be used.

Every second Sunday of the month we welcome a small group or solo performance. This gives the Chancel Choir a Sunday to join their families with the congregation. If you would like to share your performance based talents, from music to dance, Andrew will be happy to work with you on rehearsing and guiding your artistic vision to serve the spiritual needs of the congregation.

If you have any questions about how you may participate, please contact Andrew at music@sturfed.org. Please join us!
